notes:
73 afrotropical species are known in theParacleiuss.l.
(Grichanov, in press).I consider here Paraclius Coquillet (who
erroneously
designated a new type species for the genus with emended name) and Pelastoneurus
Loew as synonyms of Paracleius Bigot. Now about 330 species of the
Paraclius/Pelastoneurus
complex are known from all zoogeographical regions. I have looked on several
North American Pelastoneurus (including type species P. vagans)
and Paraclius species and have studied species descriptions published
by many authors. In fact, many Oriental, Neotropical and Afrotropical species
could be placed between typical North American Paraclius and Pelastoneurus.
It is worth to note also that the genus has poor borders with ArgyrochlamysLamb and
Hercostomus
